The ear defenders aren't worn out. It's the cushions that meet your head.

The first hour feels fine. Then it starts to press at the temples, it gets warm and damp, and the arm of your glasses is forced into your skull. The original rings have hardened, cracked and lost their shape. The ear defender still works, but the one part that actually touches you has given up.

✕ Toughing it out until the break

You lift the cup for a moment to cool down. That's exactly when you have no protection.

✕ Stretching the headband

Less pressure, yes. But also a looser fit and a poorer seal around the ears.

✕ Buying new ear defenders

Hundreds spent on electronics and a headband that already work as they should.

Our GelShift replaces the right part: silicone gel that flows away where it's tight, instead of hard foam that pushes back against your temple, ear and glasses arm.

Same ear defenders. But soft to wear all shift long.

The gel shapes itself to your head instead of pressing against it. You replace a worn consumable part in a few minutes and get back ear defenders you don't even think about.

  • Less point pressure on temples and ears
  • The gel seals around the glasses arm
  • Felt cooler than hard foam by many
  • Both sealing rings and cushioning pads included
  • Clicks on by hand, no tools

What decides whether you can keep the defenders on all day

Gel that spreads the pressure

The gel shifts where the load is greatest and spreads it over a larger area. Hard foam does the opposite: it compresses and pushes back on the same spot.

Room for the glasses arm

The soft surface lets the arm sink in instead of being pressed against your head. That closes the gap that otherwise forms where the arm passes through.

Feels cooler for many

The gel surface draws heat away faster than worn foam, which stores heat and moisture. The effect varies, but most describe less heat around the ears.

Clicks into the original fitting

The ring has the same mounting edge as the original cushion and snaps into the cup's groove. No glue, no tools and nothing to unscrew.

Made for daily work shifts, glasses and ear defenders with a few years on them

Construction, industry, forestry, workshop, farming, hunting and the range. Anywhere the defenders stay on for hours, not just five minutes.

  • Contents: 2 sealing rings + 2 cushioning pads
  • Filling: Silicone gel
  • Surface material: Hard-wearing PU skin
  • Fitting: Snap-on, no tools
  • Replacement time: About 2-3 minutes
  • Cleaning: Wipe with a damp cloth

It isn't the cup that presses. It's the material against your skin.

The headband has the same force as on day one. The difference is in how that force is spread when it meets your head.

The gel moves, the foam pushes back

Foam compresses and pushes back with growing force. The gel instead shifts sideways and redistributes the pressure across the whole ring, so no single point carries the load.

The arm sinks into the surface

A glasses arm is hard and narrow. Against stiff foam it becomes an edge that presses into your head and lifts the ring. The gel gives way around the arm so the ring still sits flush.

A new cushion restores the contact surface

Old rings harden, flatten and crack from sweat, sun and hours. Replace both the sealing ring and the cushioning pad and the defender gets back the soft contact surface it was built with.

The whole set, not just the outer rings

Our GelShift versus the two most common alternatives

I was about to order new defenders because the old ones pressed so badly. It was the rings all along. Ten minutes' work and they feel like new again.

How GelShift compares to the alternatives

Our GelShift Worn original cushions New complete cups
Soft contact against the glasses arm
Spreads the pressure instead of pushing back
Keeps the electronics and fit you are used to
Fitted in a couple of minutes, no tools
Costs a fraction of a new pair of cups

From worn cushion to fresh fit in three steps

Release the old ring

Take hold of the ring's outer edge and pull outwards all the way round. The mounting edge releases from the cup's groove. Lift out the old cushioning foam underneath.

Fit the new cushioning pad

Place the cushioning pad in the base of the cup. It should lie flat, not folded at the edge, or the ring won't seal evenly against your head.

Click the gel ring into place

Set the mounting edge in the groove and press all the way round with your thumb until it clicks. Press on the edge, not on the gel itself.

What you're wondering before you order

How do I know it fits my ear defenders? Find the model number, usually on the inside of the cup or on the headband. Send it or a photo to us and we'll confirm whether the set fits before you order. We reply within 24 hours. If it still doesn't fit once it arrives, we'll take it back, no questions asked.

Does it change the noise protection? The set is made for comfort, not to change the defender's attenuation values. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your defenders. The most important thing for the seal is that the ring sits fully in the groove all the way round and that the cushioning pad lies flat, a ring that sits askew or a damaged pad worsens the fit whatever the material.

Will it really feel cooler? Most describe less heat than with old, hardened foam, because the gel surface draws heat away faster. But the experience varies. Some find gel feels damper in real heat. We promise softer pressure distribution, not coolness.

How often should I replace the pads? With daily professional use, defender makers often recommend replacing about every six months, or sooner if the ring cracks, hardens or is damaged. Check the cushions before every shift. Our guarantee covers faults in the material, not normal wear.

Is it hard to fit? No. The ring snaps into the same groove as the original cushion and it takes a couple of minutes per cup. What usually feels unfamiliar is that you have to press all the way round the mounting edge, not just at one end. Press on the edge and not on the gel.

Try it for 365 days

We're confident you'll love it, just like our many customers. Fit it to your defenders, wear them a whole work shift and feel the difference when you take them off.

If it doesn't fit, or doesn't feel the way you hoped, simply send it back and get all your money back. No awkward process, no hidden conditions. If anything's faulty, we'll send a new one.

The only thing you risk is another six months with defenders you'd rather take off.
